No, sorry to say... No one ever made the 5th Prelude. Too bad too, seems popular, and you're about the 10th person to wander in and ask about one...

But welcome to AF anyway!

There is a site called tanomi.com, which is a Japanese pun meaning "request." It's a site to file a petition and ask someone to make what people want, and the site lists common requests, and it takes care of the licensing matter if necessary.
There is a resin kit section under auto, and 5th gen Prelude has 46 approvals, so add to that, we have 56 approvals.

What about a conversion kit for the 4th gen with the following parts?
Body w/ clear parts
Windows
Suspension parts to adjust the wheelbase.
Wheels
Dashboard
Tub style interior
Seats

While making a master to sell just 50+ kits really doesn't pay, but I'm wondering just how much each resin kit should be.

I am sure that if people saw the kits in the hobby store they would pick one up. I don't usually plan on what kit I am gonna buy, I just go to the hobby shop and see what they have in stock. I like the look of the preludes so I would most likely get one.

I want one so bad!!!!

I was even thinking about converting to one from a Sylvia S15...

I don't think converting the 4th gen would work cus there's too much a difference on the ass of the car as well as the front end.

I'm talking about completely scratchbuilt body and interior, and use only chassis and tires from Aoshima or Fujimi, unless someone lifts the car up, and take bunch of pictures of the bottom.

Were the chassis totally different between 4th and 5th gen? Would it be at all similar to an Accord chassis?

Anyways.... If one were to make a master from scratch, how do you start building it? Just start carving a big lump of clay?

Heh... my boss has a '00 Lude. Maybe I should just start measuring his...

Is the prelude by Fujimi really that rare? I always see them end at $27+ on ebay. I haven't found any at all for sale in my country either.

By projecting the side profiles onto several layers of balsa wood of 10 mm thick. 1/24 car will fit within 80 mm width, so stacking four of pre-cut side profiles on each side to form a basic shape, and start from there.
You can take pictures of the floor to see if it's a derivative of civic/integra chassis or accord chassis.

You are referring to the 4th gen Prelude. The '97-'01 Prelude is the 5th gen. Here's an example:

NOBODY makes a model of this except:

1) A 3" die-cast model of a Japanese cartoon armoured out version which looks like utter crap.

2) The HPI 200mm (~1.5' length) RC car shell, but being it's HPI it's got a very exaggerated profile and not to scale.

By the way, there's no "H" in VTEC. Unless you are referring to the phone manufacturer.

Whoa! That's brilliant! Never thought of it that way! Thanks!

I was just asking, since I have generally understood that the Prelude and Accord have been based on the same platform, the same as the Civic and Integra, like you said. I can't corroborate that for any particular model years, though...

After a bit of research, I think the 4th gen Lude's chassis from any kit would be a close enough match for the 5th. It'd have to be a model of the Type S BB8 (Type SH in N.A.), though, since that's the one with 4WS.

LOL... Why'd the 4th 'Lude have to have such a unique interior?

I'm facinated now. I downloaded all the 5th Lude's blueprints...

I have another file with the bps scaled to 1/24 scale and it's printed out here on my desk...

Surely I can't be serious about doing anything with them... :o
