Exclamation Transmission swap for a noob

Ok, before you flame me horribly, please believe that I HAVE looked around for a thread like this. What I have found is... CAN I SWAP YEA or NAY. I KNOW I can swap, and I have gotten tips, that's it. Tips like, getting a donor car makes it easier, which i understand and WILL be getting an 86-88 Supra N/A 5spd parts car.

So, heres my story and problems:
Auto trans: Wouldn't kick down, finally keeled over and shit on itself. Meaning I no longer have overdrive/4th gear, and no Reverse doesn't engage when i REALLY need it to . So, I have it parked and use it only for emergencies, and was told quite angrily by my grandfather to junk the F-er and get a nice Honda... That lead to a F-you and walking off. (I aint never driving no Honda, be labeled as a Ricer immediately in Portland, OR) ANyways...Im not looking for a YES IT CAN BE DONE, or a YOU ARE BETTER OFF WITH TURBO, Ive heard it all, I dont want a turbo right now, even if I could afford one, I want a fun, somewhat fuel efficient sporty, sexy Supra.

So, what im asking for, if anyone has this, or knows where a CURRENT or at least working link to a page with STEP by STEP instructions for a noob like me to remove the manual transmission, remove an auto transmission, prepare an automatic drive car to take the clutch Master Cylinder, slave cylinder, pedals, and everything else needed. Like do I need the ECU from the Manual car, I know I will need the wiring harness, otherwise I will either not be able to start the car, or the Check Engine Light will be on 24/7. Basically...

CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME A NOOBS GUIDE TO SWAPPING TRANNIES?

I would assume the transmission in the donar car IS in fact a W58, I dont now right now, but I could care less ATM, I want a manual, and I need a working car. Only thing left to drive here is a Honda which I barely fit in, and a Camaro with non working headlights and no insurance..

Re: Transmission swap for a noob

Also, if anyone has done this themselves, please tell me how and what to do. My car is kinda sitting there, and Im too worried I will screw something up in the process. Im not mechanically retarded, its just, Im not a risk taker. Im not going to just run out and take bolts off and then slap some back on without knowing generally what is happening and what will happen when I do so. Im just asking for some advice, and maybe a walkthrough of what others did, so if that gets anyone attention... also, I take pictures of stuff to show people if y'all wants sounds like a story to me

I have one, it doesnt give very good information about changing certain parts, no pictures for my year, and is generally vauge about the entire removal process. Thus, why i am asking around.

Re: Transmission swap for a noob

There isn't much to it. Just get under there and yank it. The best way to learn is hands on.
