SES Light - OBD Codes

As suggested here, I bought a scanner and hooked up to my OBD port. There were 2 codes in memory: 0137 and 0141. The SES light stays off for a while, then intermittently comes on and stays on for longer periods of time. Eventually, it is on all of the time. After I erase the codes, the light remains off again, with the cycle starting over. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Re: SES Light - OBD Codes

Both DTCs are related to the post CAT convertor 02 sensor. A low volts and heater malfunction. Check the electrical connector to it first. Then replace the rear 02 sensor. Try to stay with the AC Delco brand, PN: AFS 141.

Re: SES Light - OBD Codes

One other thought on this. If the problem is not corrected will it cause damage to the engine?

Re: SES Light - OBD Codes

The post 02 sensor justs monitors CAT convertor efficiency but should not affect anything else but if it has a short may load down the PCM 5 volt reference signal or the 12 volts supplied to the 02 heater circuits. I don't think there will be any engine damage as a result but you never know for sure.
