Ross Gibson resin Engines

Greetings fellow modelers.....
Perhaps one of you might be able to help me. I recently purchased a Ross Gibson 1/24th scale resin model of the Chrysler Slant 6 - Hyperpack. It is very detailed, but I have somehow misplaced the oil pan for this engine. Does anyone know where I might find another one, or do you think I'll have to re-purchase the whole kit again. Thanks in advance!

Re: Ross Gibson resin Engines

Where did you get it from? Some suppliers have close ties to the manufacturers, and often they're pretty cool. If you drop an email to where you got it, they might be able to get you a new oil pan, or give you contact info directly to Ross Gibson, who may be able to send you one. They may charge, but last time I checked these engines weren't cheap, so it would be a much better option than getting a whole new engine kit.

Re: Ross Gibson resin Engines

Thanks Willi & Jake. I've sent e-mails to both places where I purhased the engine(s), as I bought a resin 427 side-oiler Blue Oval as well. I have been modeling for as long as I can remember, i.e., I'm 57 years old and built my first kit at age 5, but I've never worked with resin before. Nice detail, but for my tastes, leaves a bit to be desired. Thanks again. Oh, and Merry Christmas!!

Re: Ross Gibson resin Engines

I've found anything leaves a little to be desired Thus is the life of a modeler, no? In any case - working with resin isn't terribly different than anything else. Just be careful with the resin dust when you sand as it's toxic, and be sure to clean the parts thoroughly before paint - the demolding chemical will cause fisheyes in your paint! Most people recommend Wesley's Bleche-White whitewall cleaner for this (but you likely already knew all this).

Good luck, and post pictures!
