Wet floor?

Hello,

I have a 02 Grand Prix GT, 2 door , with about 45,000 miles on it. I recently just noticed that on the passenger side floor I had water pooling. The floor was extremely damp, with a small pool of water. I have no idea where the water came from. (100% sure its water) It had been raining that night and the next morning when i went to school. I really have no idea where the water came from, and i know that nothing was spilled on the floor from a water bottle or something. So if someone could help me out that would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Wet floor?

No problem!! There is a rubber channel under the cowling at the base of the windshield. Remove the wiper blades and remove the cowling. Then you should see the strip on the passenger side. If it has fallen off or is dangling simply replace it using glue to hold it in place. The channel should drain water into he large hole. It is a good idea to also change the cabin filter if you have one. The second thing to do is to check the drain in the system. It is on the firewall just about in line with the engine pulleys. It may have an L shaped piece of rubber on it but if not it will look like a round tube. Run a piece of coat hanger into the hole and make sure it is cleaned out to facilitate drainage. Good Luck!!

Re: Wet floor?

My GT suffered from the wet passenger floor syndrome & after removing the passenger side wiper blade only, I was able to pull up on the passenger side cowling (after removing a few screws) & noticed the rubber strip just flopping around. I used some rubber adhesive from the auto parts store on the rubber strip to help it stay in place. After screwing the cowling back down & reinstalling the passenger side wiper blade, I then used an adhesive material designed for windshields along the top of the cowling where it meets the windshield. It's possible that repositioning that rubber strip was all that I needed to do, but I no longer have a wet passenger floor when it rains.

You can actually get to the rubber strip that comes loose without removing the wiper blade but it is a little tight. If you do a search on this topic you'll find a picture that someone posted of the rubber strip.
