'66 Nova
I finished this one for the Atlanta, GA NNL. Some of you may have already seen it on another forum. I haven't been on this forum much, but for the last few days I have been cruising around and really like what I see. I hope you all enjoy my project:

Re: '66 Nova
Excellent chassis work, I really like the engine bay too. Hinging the hood on the front edge is perfect for this car too. Great work.

Re: '66 Nova
Thanks again for the compliments guys. Since I didn't post in the WIP forums, I thought I would add some more pictures and explain some of what was done on this one:
The radiator was scratch-built from from brass (with some machining), polished and chrome-plated. The fan shroud is all from styrene and painted Tamiya's matt black. All hoses are from Pro-Tech (love Charlie's stuff-it's the best!). ![]() ![]() The front and rear suspension was also scratch-built from brass, polished and chrome-plated using Caswell's "Copy Chrome" system (easy to use, no acid or hard chemicals and stunning results). The airbags suspension was machined from aluminum and the bolts and hardware are R B Motion. The rear trailing arms was also scratch-built from brass. The brake rotors are Machined Aluminum Specialty items, with the calipers from some Tamiya kit that I had for parts. ![]() ![]() The motor is, I believe, is a big block from the AMT '67 Chevelle. The carbuerator is a dominator from one of the Revell Pro Mod kits. I drilled out the back being careful not to damage the venturi set up. If you look closely, you can see that you can see through it. The top part was machined to try, as best as possible, to have a true "billet" look. The spacer plate was also machined to match the manifold. The valve covers are from Bob Dudek, with the "527" moniker. The transmission is the Muncie from Model Car Garage, with some 1/12 throttle linkage pieces from R B Motion. ![]() ![]() The dash was from the kit with slight modifications. All the gauges were machined and Machined Aluminum Gauge faces uses. The foot pedals are from Model Car Garage's import photo etch package. ![]() The rack and pinion was also from brass with some machining on the actual steering box. It was polished and then chromed, with some boots made from styrene and painted Tamiya mat black. ![]() The sterring wheel is a Detail Master piece that I polished the back protion and carbon-kevlared the front piece and then clear-coted. ![]() The eshuast tips, again, were from brass. ![]() The roll cage was also from brass ![]() 90% of the hood was made from styrene and carbon-kelvar was applied (as well as the rear spoiler). You can't really see the pistol-grip shifter, but that was also machined. I also made a "wink mirror" that was carbon-kelvared, but you can't see that either. I will see if I can take some pics of the wink mirror later. Sorry for the lengthy follow-up, but since I didn't post in WIP... Last edited by scrappyj1; 12-17-2007 at 04:01 PM. |

Re: '66 Nova
Just gorgeous! Model making at it's best. I'm always super impressed when all that scratchbuilding and modifying ends up so perfectly clean! Great work!

Re: '66 Nova
Thanks again, gents! I'm not that good at documenting my work and one of my good friends, Dave Morton, told me that a lot of my work goes un-noticed because of that. I do have pics of one of my latest projects (1/12 Top Fuel bike) you can see here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=771810
I believe my next Pro Touring build will be the '66 Chevelle. Sorta something like this: http://www.superchevy.com/features/c.../photo_01.html I hope. |
