93 S-10 won't start. Please help...

1993 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup 2.8l, 2wd, manual trans.

I am in a bit of a pickle...

I went out fishing the other night, I parked at the landing a went out for about three hours. Upon returning to the landing the truck would not start (cranks over just fine but does'nt fire up) and the headlights + interior lights would not work, everything else worked as normal radio, fan, etc. Battery output is good, spark is good, fuses are good, there's plenty of gas in the tank, fuel pump relay is good, ignition control mod. is good. The fuel just is'nt being delivered. I get no fuel at the throttle body, and no power at the fuel pump relay. Next step I suppose is to check all my grounds, and then try run a jumper directly to the pump to see if that works.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yes if I spray starting fluid into the throttle body it'll fire briefly, but will not stay running. I don't know if it is the pump even though it does'nt kick on, because there is no power going to the connection at the relay, so I'm kinda think that it's an electrical problem of sort before the pump/relay ( I could be completley wrong though?)

Thanks for the help it is appreciated.
Happy Holidays!

Put a fused 12V to the fuel pump and you will know if the fuel pump is good or not. I'm thinking it's bad.

Let us know what you find.

Re: 93 S-10 won't start. Please help...

Fuel pump tested OK. I traced the problem back and found that the auxilary wire coming off the starter had rested on the exhaust manifold and melted through. I replaced the bad section of wire and it runs like a pro once again.

Thanks for the suggestions and Happy Holidays!
