Check Engine Light-Gascap

I have an '03 2500 HD hemi and have had a check engine light on for about the last 30K miles or so . Been able to cancel it on occasion by disconnecting the battery for a bit. Auto Zone put the answer as hoses being bad. Already tried the gascap deal. Dealer wants about $180. to fix this. It has 64K miles on it. Any input from folks with similar experiences would be appreciated as I have none of my own in this area. Common thing, etc. Thanks.

OK, two new hoses, a little test pump, 330 bucks out of pocket later, the monster was ready for it,s annual inspection. Passed.
Found out the cracked hose thing is a common problem with Chrysler. I have to give AutoZone credit. And, as an aside, they have a really neat website for repairing your vehicle. Illustrated ipb's and instructions on most repairs. And thanks guys for the input. Happy Holidays.

most of the time on dodges the evap hoses crack and leak.
