97 Accord Auto Trans Problem..

I have a 97 Honda Accord, 163K miles on it. Had the trans rebuilt about 3.5 years ago. It was slipping on shifts and would just rev up if you accellerated real hard. If you just went from neutral to D4 it would do nothing. If you go from neutral to D1 then it would engage and shift to second but shift to 3rd and it would just rev, let off the gas, give it gas, feel a little movement then rev. So had it rebuilt. THen 13 months later, did it again. THis time I took it out rebuilt it, checked the solenoids via an ohm meter, checked ok, applied 12 volts, clicked, replaced the converter. Worked great until 12 months later. ANd it is doing it again. Any ideas? And yes TNT was thought of..

THanks...Jimmy

Re: 97 Accord Auto Trans Problem..

Check grounds? The regular interval of failure makes me wonder if seasonal variation is causing it?

Like cold, water, salt?

A bad ground will make solenoid systems go nuts...

Re: 97 Accord Auto Trans Problem..

Are you talking about the grounds on the solenoids? The first time it was in May, then the second time in July, and now it was September....

Does the 97 flash the D4 if you short the two pin connector to give you codes from the TCM? I got a code, from what I remember it was PO714...but I was going to drive it again this afternoon and have it put a code up and read it then. And I wanted to short the two pin connector and see if the TCM has a code also.

Back to the grounds, what is the best place to check those?

Thanks...

Jimmy

Re: 97 Accord Auto Trans Problem..

Well I went home and drove it and it threw a code, PO715 not the 714 as I previously mentioned. I looked for a connector under the glove box. I found a two pin connector plugged into a plastic dummy piece, just something to plug it into and keep it there. Is this the connector to read the codes in the TCM or is it the 715 I already read with a code reader?
