Amount of time to install rear struts?
I'm thinking of taking my 97 grand prix gt to a friend for him to install 2 rear struts. I have three questions
1. How long should this take him for complete assembly? 2. Does he need any type of machine for say a alignment or something else? 3. I'm thinking about purchasing these struts at rockauto.com. Below is a part description, how does it look? MONROE Part # 171662L {QUICK STRUT Complete fully assembled with replacement bearing plate, upper and lower spring isolators, upper spring seat, coil spring (where applicable), boot kit, and a premium Monroe Sensa-TracŪ strut.}Rear Left $143.79 |

Re: Amount of time to install rear struts?
I'm not a big fan of Monroe Sensa-tracs, they give a wallowy, too-soft ride for my tastes. The quick struts are a great idea, especially for DIY's without access to a spring compressor, I just wish they'd offer them in a non sensa-trac version.
To answer your question, if your friend is doing this without a hoist, it should take him about 1 to 1-1/2 hours per side. The car will need an alignment after he's done.
