just thought I would drop a line to let you in on a problem I had with my 510 and how I fixed it. For some unknown reason, the car would just sit still while accelerating off from a dead stop, then all of a sudden, SWOOSH take off like a rocket.
Mighty strange indeed. Had me running around in circles tryin to figure it out.
Well, to make a long story short, I isolated the problem to the carburetor. While looking at the jets during idle then moving the accelerator I noticed that the fuel was comming out in globules, not a mist as it should. Tried cleannig the jet and did not fix the problem. Then I noticed that the jet seemed rather loose in the fitting of it and as I held it a certain way, it would then work right. (some sort of air/vaccum leak I guess).
So in order to fix it, I wedged in a coulple of razor blades, broke off the excess and sealed it with permatex. Darn thing runs like a champ now!
Hope this helps the next guy with this sort of thing, it was a mind-blower for me!
