I believe thats eqipted with opti-spark... when you changed the water pump did the opti spark get covered in coolant?

Welcome to AF. No opti -spark, you may have disconnected the crank sensor down by the crank pulley or maybe near the ign module.

Re: car will not start after changing water pump

i guess it has a coil pack behind the water pump. i noticed yesterday the some of the plastic around the top was busted alittle bit, where the main plug comes off the ignition mod. still plugs up fine. i have a ram air kit on it and there was a component i unhooked that was just left open. its directly underneath what im assuming the ignition mod. right of the water pump. i can still plug it back up but doesn't change anything.

Re: car will not start after changing water pump

did you get coolant on the distributor directly below the water pump? when the water pump is changed. i remove the knock sensors this drains the engine so that very little if any coolant drips down when pump is removed. also i believe 95 impala has old style of distributor that does not use venting that was used on 96 impala. this venting from intake plenum thru distributor and into intake manifold removes moisture and ozone gases that will cause premature distributor failure. I have read that very small amounts of coolant leaking will cause your problem. I don't believe there is anything else that you could have disturbed except the coil wires, that would have caused the loss of fuel and no start. usually it will backfire if distributor got wet and not start...........
