2001 Silhouette sometimes won't start

Hi.

I have a 2001 Silhouette that sometimes won't start. When I turn the key I either get absolutely nothing or I get enough juice to start it providing that I turn off all of the accessories (radio, heat, etc.). At either time, I can jump start it and it will work OK for a while. Then it starts happens again without warning.

So I had the battery replaced and it ran fine for about a month until it started behaving the same way. So my mechanic stated that it looked like a bad connection or a short in the starter so I had it replaced. It ran fine for about a week after that but now it has started acting up again.

Frankly I'm getting tired of being stranded and I'd rather rid myself of this problem then to keep having to take it back and forth to my mechanic; so any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

is the alternator charging? as these will go out and just charge enough to keep the battery light off and not be charging the battery.autozone can check it free of charge.

hi,try to replace ,"ignition switch" cost 45$-50$ not more, happend to me befor.good look

see if you can turn the switch on and try to crank it without the key in the switch if it tries to crank then i'd say the switch is bad.. could be the switch as it is another problem with these vans. it should die without the key in the switch but the fact you can turn the switch to crank it without the key = bad...
