VW T1 or T2 Bus build tips?
Hi
I have bought Hasegawa's VW 23 Window Samba, Pickup and Delivery with some customising/lowering in mind. I have searched around but cant find and Build Diary. I'm looking for a method to lower the suspension, do I need to cut the wheel arches and scratch build replacements? Dave N |

Quote:
Not a lot of solutions with this kit:- or you set large rims and you'll have to cut - or you limit the size of the rims to 15' and you can have a right riding height. |

Did you still use the original suspension but with it shortened?

Re: VW T1 or T2 Bus build tips?
I cut a section from the front assembly, and made a small slot to recess it even further:

Re: VW T1 or T2 Bus build tips?
Sorry to intrude on this thread but to save making another about the same/similar model I thought i'd post here.
I have just purchased the Hasegawa VW Type 2 Delivery Van and I was wondering if there was any build diary/WiP threads on this model or a similar one. And does anyone know any good sites for reference pictures as I have had no luck finding any. also is 0.5mm thick styrene a good thickness to use for scratch building/modding? Edit Also will I have to buy the '88 porsche 911 turbo for those Fuch wheels? Thanks. Last edited by tapetape; 12-13-2007 at 08:14 PM. |

Re: VW T1 or T2 Bus build tips?
Dave-
I scratch built my entire frame and suspension. I have a coil-over set-up, where I scratch built the lower A-arms out of plastic. A lot of work, but as stated earlier, not many options on these. I did a 21-window years ago, where I used as similar method on the chassis, but used the kit's front suspension. ![]() ![]() The link to my recent post http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=772330 |
