New front grille
Hi you all!
I just bought a 1999 model Trans Sport (that is Venture) and this is my first message here so letīs start with an easy (?) one. My front grille is busted and I prefer the grille on 2002 - 2005 models. Does it fit on my 1999? The hood, the fenders and light are all the same and even the grille brackets seem similar, but Iīm not yet sure if the grille is interchangeable. What do you think? Thanks, Marko |

Re: New front grille
From the looks of it, the point of the nose is sharper on the 2002-2005, compared with the 1999.
Further, I think you'd probably be able to do it if you changed the nose and the bumper. The bumper on the 99 would definitely get in the way of the 2002-05 grill.

Re: New front grille
Iīm still not convinced, Iīm thinking it will fit.
Unluckily I canīt find a newer model Venture to take measures (as I live in Finland, Venture are not so popular) and our local dealer isnīt sure either. If some of you guys have access on both models, maybe someone could compare them... |

Re: New front grille
If these links work, you can compare the two noses. That's where I saw them. I wanted to change my 1999 for a 2002-2005 nose, too, but while the mounts were the same, the bumpers are slightly different for the Chevy's too, so I didn't change it.

Hereīs few pics of 2001 to 2005 models and these grilles surely look like they fit 1999 model, or what?

Re: New front grille
I thought you meant that the Tran Sport was "like" the Venture. I didn't know that in Finland the Trans Sport "was" the Venture. In US, Trans Sport is a Pontiac (pics in my previous links). Same car, different body.
Same thing though. I looked into it because I like the newer grilles, too. I have both the 99 and the 04 Venture. If you look carefully, the 02-05 grille has a very slight point and the bumper also has that ever so slight crease. The 99 by contrast, is rounded and almost flat. The reason I did not make the swap (otherwise, the grill mounts look exactly the same. I haven't tried the swap, but I've looked at the mount points) is because I think the newer grille on an older style bumper will strike continuously. Now, if you can find a way to lower the middle of the bumper cover it may work.

Re: New front grille
I have a 98 that was in a front end accident where it demolished my old grille but the bumper was barely scratched. I replaced teh hood, and I bought I think the 2005/6 model fiberglass grille with the pointed bottom just like the pontiac models. Fits fine works great.

Re: New front grille
It fits nicely, no problems. The mounts are the same and all I needed to do was to take off the seal between the grille and the bumper. Has been there for 6 months now.
