Keyless Entry/Remote Start

OK so i just bought another gtp, '97.. under the hood it has a decal saying this car is equipped with a remote start system. The clicker i got with the car was just the lock/unlock/trunk one.. would anyone know what kind of clicker i would need to get to use the remote start? All i can find it seems are ones from '06 grand prixs and such.. would those work? And also how would i program it in. I know how to program a regular keyless entry, but would the remote start be any different? Thanks.

Re: Keyless Entry/Remote Start

you have to find the main brain. 97-03 GTP's never came with remotestart as a factory option. If you do have one in your car its an add on aftermarket type. Remove the lower dash piece (above the drivers knees and see if you can find a box spliced onto the thick ignition wires. Hopefully the installation was done by a professional. If you find the main brain, you will need to copy its manufacturer and model number down and refer to its website to order replacement remotes. Which will require interfacing before they will work. You will have to try and dig up these instructions also.
