oil change (drain plug)

I have a 2004 chevy silverado with a 6.6L V8 duramax diesel, i have heard from some people that there is a crush gasket on the drain plug is that true. What is the actual name of that gasket?

Thanks

It's possible, but drain plugs can be replaced. I've seen two and they both had the rubber ring in a recess in the drain plug. Just look at it the next time it's out. If there is any material on it that you can deform with your fingernail, it's not the crush type. It's probably just called the "drain plug gasket".

Just curious, but what about the type of sealing method would make you bang your head on the wall?
