Need some quick advice on mufflers
Hi all,
I'm just about to pick up a 1999 Sunfire GT and I know the left muffler needs to be replaced for the safety. As I'm new to the J-bodies and need to get this done quick is there anything I should know about the mufflers on these things? Is it worth going to a shop to get one welded or can I just bolt it on myself? What kind of price range is reasonable? Thanks!

Re: Need some quick advice on mufflers
Its like any other exhaust install....
straight forwards. Don't go to a shop if you don't have to. You can get hangers at an autoparts store that will wrap around the oval mufflers and hang properly. Just a matter of some adapters if needed and exhaust clamps. Inlet dia. is 1.75" on stock exhaust if that helps you out. So if you want a cheap muffler look for something stock size ( any shop will have the dims) with a 1.75 Inlet OD ( so muffler slips into exhaust piping) and w/e size oulet you want and tail pipe. It has to be a straight through design.
