Pics of R32 GTR Skylines 1/18 needed
Hi,
Has anyone got or know where I can find some good pics of the 1/18 R32 GTR Skylines (HKS, Calsonic etc), as well as goo dpics of the Bathurst winning R32 GTR? Want to know how good is the detail for the engine, interior and fuel system? Thanks. |

I am not sure if this has been of any help unfortunately. |

Re: Pics of R32 GTR Skylines 1/18 needed
Merry Christmas & Happy new year guys...
Sorry for the delay in replying....that time of year I guess. Thanks for the pics, much appreciated. The doors on the 2 bathurst editions look like they don't fit properly, or is this just the angle of the pic? They also look like they miss out on a lot of engine detail - considering the price they are selling for at the moment on Ebay (if you can find one). SHame they had to leave off the sponsorship decals. Thanks again. |

The Biante releases do have large panel gaps at the doors. At the time they released these cars, the only 1:18 diecast mould to use was the Kyosho ones. The Kyosho moulds were from the very very early 1990's so their fit, finish and detail is (understandably) inferior to the new range of AUTOart moulds (Calsonic, Kyoseki and STP Taisan) released within the last 18 months. The Biante cars are going for silly money because they are limited editions with an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The 1992 Winfield car is regularly averaging over AUS$700 on ebay whenever it pops up because it is the memorable and controversial one. Plus, when it was released (very early in Biante's Bathurst winners collection) not many people had figured it would be worth adding to the collection. As the Bathurst winners collection expanded, collectors realised that this was imperative to have in their colelction of it was to be complete. So now whenever they crop up on ebay, collectors who have previously missed out go into a frenzy because their Bathurst winners collections are not complete without it. The peak was reached some months ago when one example fetched AUS$995 on ebay, which at today's exchange rates is approaching US$920-$950! As to the lack of tobacco 'Winfield' signage, Australian law prohibits their sale with this 'advertising' in place. Adult diecast collector models are still broadly categorised as 'toys' under Australian laws, so no tobacco signage can appear on them. It seems to have been missed by Australian legislators that a child cannot afford to buy one of these 'toys' because they are aimed at the adult collector market and priced accordingly.... The Biante forum itself made an announcement on the non-availablilty of tobacco signange on model cars released by them or imported into Australian by them (which means all the major model manufacturers): http://forums.biante.com.au/showthread.php?t=8080 "Lately there has been a lot of talk regarding the legality of supplying tobacco logo decals for model cars in Australia. As many long time members will know we have been trying to seek clarification on this issue for some time. We have been in contact with Quit WA who have provided the following information. In Part 3 of the Tobacco Products Control Act 2006 it states: 31. (4) A person must not sell or hire an object that constitutes or contains a tobacco advertisement (5) In proceedings for an offence under this section it is to be presumed, unless the contrary is proved, that if the thing that is alleged to constitute a tobacco advertisement contains the trade mark in respect of, or registered design or brand name of, a tobacco product or smoking implement then it promotes the tobacco product or smoking implement. Basically, we cannot sell the decals as they are considered advertising. Biante have not, and never will, be involved in the production, marketing, or distribution of decals for any models produced by, or distributed through, Biante. Nor will we be knowingly hosting from this point on, links to any website that are involved with these items. It is unfortunate as we wish to produce these models as accurately as possible but the law is the law but this is the position we have been put in. We would much rather produce models without the full logos than not produce them at all." Pozz - As to question on the R33, Ebbro and Kyosho are the only companies that have produced accurate diecast scale models of the R33 (sorry, I don't rate M-Tech's version). Ebbro's are however, only released in 1:43, while Kyosho are in 1:64. At time of writing, Kyosho are releasing/have released a 1:43 diecast as well with opening bonnet. I do not yet have any of these, nor have seen any for sale in Australia. No 1:18 R33 GT-R or other Skyline variant has been produced in diecast. I have attached here some pics of my 1:43 Ebbro R33 GT-R's so you can see what they look like: This is the Kyosho 1:64 and the Ebbro 1:43 versions ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The R33 GT-R LM Blue special edition ![]() ![]() ![]() And the R33 GT-R LM roadcar prototype for homologation purposes that formed the basis of the 1995 Le Mans tilt ![]() And a group shot of Ebbro's R32, R33 and R34 together on my home-made diorama:

Re: Pics of R32 GTR Skylines 1/18 needed
Thanks for the info, very interesting.
Shoulda put a watermark on the pics to stop the ebayer's ![]() Great rundown on the cars (mate, you must have some collection). I remember when the 1/18 Winfield GTR was first released, I had the opportunity to buy as many as I wanted at $149 each! Kicking myself now! I agree, the average 'kid' buying a 'toy' car would not be likely to part with $700 plus for one, and if the parent's buy the kid such a car, then you would hope the kid is a serious collector and the parent's are fostering this hobby(wonder if any 1/18 Bathurst GTR's made their way into the sandpit derby?). Just a classic case of legislators going over the top again I guess. Interesting to see the other GTR with the Tooheys decals in place, no problem there, wonder what kills more people every year, alcohol or cigarettes - sorry, morbid point, just annoys me that legislators cannot let adults make their own descisions with this kind of stuff (no I'm not a drinker or smoker, but if I am buying a replica of a real vehicle, that's what I want, cigarette advertising and all). How do other companies get away with producing a model and selling it with the cigarette sponsorhip? I know of at least 1 Camel sponsored F1 car produced by Studio 27 (I think), where the correct decals are supplied in the kit, though all the pics are shown without. Is it more from an advertising point of view, you can include the decals but not advertise the car with them on? Wonder why the R33 was never produced in 1/18? Reckon that would look awesome in some Winfield race livery...maybe what 'coulda / shoulda' been perhaps? Thanks again. Any pics of the fuel systems on the 1/18's? |

Re: Pics of R32 GTR Skylines 1/18 needed
Yeah, I'm building a decent little collection of Skylines up, but I'm sure there are others with bigger and better collections than I have. The below pic was taken of my collection 12 months ago. I've added a few pieces to it since:
![]() ![]() I remember when the Winfield cars couldn't be given away at shops, but unlike you I bought three of them! I hope to buy some vinyl cut decals for them and restore them to their proper Winfield livery. As to the tobacco signage thing, it used to be a hot topic of conversation a the Biante forums until they finally released that statement. It meant that if anyone had a question they could just read that and understand. Biante are as frustrated as the collectors are, but what can you do? The Studio 27 decals are not made in Australia. They can be ordered in and bought but crucially they apparently do not qualify as 'advertising' which is what stops the tobacco signage on diecasts. Even Minichamps Rothmans Porsches imported by Biante came without the Rothmans decals. And Australia is not the only country that tobacco signage on models relates to. As to the fantasy liveries, I did some up putting the 1990, 1991 and 1992 liveries on R34 JGTC bodies just for a laugh. I did them up in Photoshop. ![]() I am sure that AUTOart, or perhaps more likely Kyosho, will make a 1:18 R33 GT-R. It will come - we must be patient. As to pics of the fuel systems of these cars, I don't have any pictures ready taken for you. I am not sure when I'll crack the camera out but I'll try to get something going sometime soonish. Needless to say, the Biante ones are rather 'rudimentary'! |

Re: Pics of R32 GTR Skylines 1/18 needed
G'day,
Cool interpretation of the R34! Very impressive collection of Skylines there! Is that the Fujimi 1/12 GTR box I see? I've got the same only the standards Nismo kit, not a bad kit, with a few details would be awesome. For the decals for the R32 have you seen this, http://www.pattosplace.com/decalsp-z.html look for wnfield (yes, leave out the "i") all different scales. These are decals. No worries on the fuel sysem pics....really appreciate what you've done so far. Thanks again. |

Re: Pics of R32 GTR Skylines 1/18 needed
Pattos used to have the wrong Winfield logo. I had a Winfield sticker here and scanned it at really hi res and emailed it to him to replace his existing decal sheets. I hoped I'd get a free decal sheet out of it but alas I didn't!!!
![]() I don't have a Fujimi 1:12, but would love one. However, I'd feel better getting a professional rto build it so I knew it was as good as it could be. Cheers! |

Re: Pics of R32 GTR Skylines 1/18 needed
Hmm, shame you didn't get a freebie (not that I belive people should expect such), but one good turn deserves another and all that...oh well.
In all your research material, can you tell me where the intercooler is located on the Winfield car, in the factory location behind the front bar, or moved to where the radiator is? Reason for asking is I have the same Zoom magazine you have there, and they show a pic of the 'intercooler' saying it's been lowered down and covered with protective mesh, but the pic they show, to me, clearly looks like the radiator position...did they get it wrong in the article? Also, did the car run the standard engine fan, or operate off electric thermos. I know these questions are getting a little off the main topic, but it's hard to find good information on this car. I am thinking about building my 1/12 GTR in that style. Thanks again for your help. |
