How fast is a LS1 Camaro
Hello Everyone,
At my work I have someone whose selling a Camaro for 6K he has the following things done to his car, he claims the car runs 12.5 quarter mile, coming from Imported cars, I don't know much about these V8 swaps but I know LS1 motors or built by gods themselves, so my question is from the listed mods is it possible this car is really mid 12's??? 1994 Camaro Auto, T-Tops, Teal color LS1 Engine Built auto trans with nitrous stall LS6 Heads with a lot of work done to them / Big Comp Cam Complete fuel system minus bigger injections -two 420L bosch fuel pumps mounted outside the tank - -8 stainless steel feed lines - F.A.S.T high-flow fuel rails 4.10 gears w/ Zexel-Torsen posi Long-tube headers going into an ORY with 2 high-flow cats SLP Loudmouth dual/dual exhaust BMR Mild-steel K-Member BMR boxed Subframe connectors BMR LCA's Double-adjustable Panhard bar 4" Fiberglass hood RS 3-piece spoiler True HID headlights 5% tint all around Clear corner front turn signals Rear blackout taillight covers Gray/charcoal cloth interior Complete LS1 Dashboard LS1 Gauge cluster 4 Alpine speakers Monster tach up to 10k RPMS LS1 Brakes up front (rotors were just freshly cut ) Hood, front bumper/fascia, and rear bumper were all just repainted last year. Right now it's sitting on BFG street tires, on 16" 5-star chrome wheels. No mechanical problems * The car is not tuned yet after all engine work & fuel system was just put in. So it idles rough on start-up for about 1-2 minutes. All the engine work / stall / fuel system was just put in during the summer.

Yeah its possible I ran 13.99 stock except for full exhaust.

Stock LS1's have hit mid to low 13's. With all that work, depending on the size of the cam and head work, I wouldn't be surprised if it could kiss 11's with a proper tune and sticky tires.

12.5??
That car has the power for upper 11's even without traction. Depends on the heads, tire, size of cam, clutch on if it can see lower 11's.

I just can't believe that he is only selling it for $6K. There's definately more than $6K in that car.

Mods don't increase selling price for the most part.
I would love to see a few pictures of it. 1994 with an LS1. Cool!

Intresting well LS6 Heads, thats def. a big increase in power, I think it may touch 11's but are atx tranny's much slower than the mtx.

well, im about a week behind on this thread, but my view on this is two fold.
first off, a stalled automatic will really only be faster than a manual if the whole tranny is built for it. the valve body determines shift speed, and the clutch packs determine the holding power of the tranny, that is laying the power to the ground. If all he did was a stall converter, then look forward to having the tranny rebuild after a few years with new clutch packs. Might as well throw a ratchet shifter and a stage two shift kit on there while youre at it. another thing to point out, the torsen rear diff is an awesome piece for the stock power levels. but the cases on the carriers tend to crack at around 400-450hp, and im willing to bet, if youre running 12.5's without a power tune on all those mods, youre very close to the breaking point. After a tuning session to make the power setup reach its full potential and really hit those 11's, youre probly gonna have to get a new carrier, preferably before that one explodes. from what i hear, the detroit lockers are the best option, a bit pricy, but worth it.
