Re: engine break in.

ok thanks. i was just wondering cause i so far other than when i seated the rings i havnt had it past 4000rpms stock redline is 8200 but its built for 10000. is it too soon to take it to 10? or even stock redline? someone said i should wait for about 1200 miles to redline it.

Re: engine break in.

there are MANY different therorys on this... i personally believe 500 miles is enough progressivly going higher in the RPMs... i would also make sure youre using conventional oil for the break in, and switch to synthetic after.

out of curiosity.. what exactly has been done to your engine?

Re: engine break in.

500 miles is the general rule.
It has nothing to do with it being a V-Tec.
It's the rings getting seated into the cylinders.
Use a light weight oil, keep the rpm's down,
and don't cruise for long time periods at a consistent speed,
for the first 500 miles.

Re: engine break in.

well to make a long story short i dropped a valve the stock b18c due to me over revving with a chipped ecu. about 11000. it lasted for almost a year then one day boom so after that i bored the block over .30 installed eagle block qaurd. eagle h-beam conneting rods. eagle crank. king racing bearings. with 12:1 compression pistons. ferrea 1mm oversize valves with ferrea springs and ti retainers. cai, obx header and muffler, custom 2.5 exhaust, rc 500cc fuel injectors. skunk 2 cam gears. set of skunk 2 stage 2 cams shafts, which i will let someone put them in and adjust the cams gears for me when i feel the engine is properly broken in. a little more. waiting or my s300. and high flow fuel pump to get in. i thing thats about at. . .. .

Re: engine break in.

I'm not up to date on NA stuff, but on a few boosted applications, i've seen the Eagle cranks let go...something to be cautious of
