1993 Toyota Camry Trunk Mounted Running & Backup Lights
Hi! I have a 1993 Toyota Camry that has none of the trunk mounted lights working (i.e., running lights and rear backup lights). I removed the left and right cable assemblies connected to the lights to bench test them and they work properly. I also checked the electrical continuity from each of the light receptacles, to back past the trunk hinge area, and these indicate fine. All of the fuses both in the cab and under the hood were removed and checked with my continuity meter, and, these too, tested fine. I'm baffled by where to look next. Should I check the electrical continuity of the cable harness further forward of the trunk hinge area (i.e., under the carpet)? Is there a relay that controls both sets of lights simultaneously? Could it be the park/neutral switch located on the transmission? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!!! -Mike P.

Re: 1993 Toyota Camry Trunk Mounted Running & Backup Lights
You can try to trace them using electrical diagram.
The diagram is stickied at the link at the top of the forum in camry's repair manuals. Good luck, Sam

Re: 1993 Toyota Camry Trunk Mounted Running & Backup Lights
there is a small relay located inside the left quarter panel about half the size of a deck of cards. You'll have to pull back the carpet lining under the deck lid on the left side and it's mounted via a push in type clip. I just ran into this same problem a few weeks ago, very ez to fix. get replacement at a junkyard for 5 bucks.
