Re: wiper problem with 92 taurus

It's not clear what kind of wiper problem you are having, but I will assume it is not working at all or not very often. It is not unusual for the multifunction switch to fail. You can open it up, clean it with electrical cleaner, but be careful, since I think it has a few small parts in it. I and others have found this to be a short lived repaired. Some have posted that they have ordered a new one online for much less than dealer price. Search in this and the Windstar forums to find this info, since that is where I have read this info.

Re: wiper problem with 92 taurus

I had the same problem. Friday afternoon, repair shop closed for the weekend. Autozone was open, I could get parts. No way to test any components. Replaced the control switch on the steering column. No help. Replaced the Motor, No help. Dug the BLACK BOX wiper control module out from under the dash. Took it apart and used a magnifying glass to inspect the printed circuit board. I found one joint or spot that was NOT soldered so with nothin to loose, I soldered the joint. After reinstalling this box back under the dash, the wipers worked perfect. Celebrated with a six pack. Hope this helps. Good luck. Autozone does not stock this part, only the dealer. Perhaps many other Taurus have the same problen. The module was marked "Made in China"

Welcome to the forum! It's great that your first post here is a tip on how to fix an issue! I hope you continue to contribute to the forum with helpful hints rather than just issues.

Not that there is anything wrong with only visiting with issues, but I never want to wish that someone will have issues with their cars.
