95caprice starting problem

i have 95 caprice classic that is hard starting. when starting the engine spins for a lenghty time before eventually starting. upon starting very erratic idle for a few seconds. i have replaced battery, fuel filter, fuel pump, and tested for spark at coil. once the car is running there are no problems. excellent fuel mileage and very responsive. if the car is turned off and restarted immediately the car starts no problems. after 10 minutes or so restart is hard again. the outside temperature seems to have no effect. any help you guys can give is greatly appreciated.

get fuel pressure gauge check for 41-47 psi vehicle running. shutdown engine and see if pressure drops more than 5psi max. after 5 min. if it does fuel rail regulator, fuel lines, defective fuel pump.......

I think you are on the right track but are WAY WAY off on your pressure numbers.

With the engine running regulator vacuum line connected it will be down around 36-38psi, line disconnected and plugged should be 43-45psi.

Check the fuel pump ground in the trunk too.

sorry for the error the pressure should be 41-47psi with engine running and vacuum line connected to regulator. the pressure should not drop below these pressures with engine shut down for 5 min. also fuel pump wires at fuel tank c402 pin A black is ground and c402 pin C is gray should read 12volts or higher.........

41-47 is the service allowable range for vacuum line DISconnected, my 43-45psi was based on experiance.

The fuel pump ground connects to the upright in the trunk, they ran it into there to keep it out of the elements.
