Problems after head remake.

Help...
The timing belt of my 2004 Aveo broke and damaged all of the valves. We had the head remade and replaced it. Now it runs but we have new problems.

First, the fan runs on high right away when it starts. What might be causing this?

Second, when it starts it runs really fast then slows, sometimes goes faster again, before slowing twice to get to a normal idling speed. What could this mean?

Any help would be grealy appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Problems after head remake.

you need to have a qualified techician diagnose your aveo. Sound like the timing is off and needs adjusting. Why did your timing belt break in the first place? Didn't you follow the recommended maintenance and have it changed when necessary?

Re: Problems after head remake.

Yes, I had ordered my replacement belt at 100,000 miles so I would be ready to replace it at the RECOMENDED 120,000 for the second replacement. I bought it with 100,000 miles on it and the person had never changed it at 60,000 so I got screwed eventhough I following the recommended maintainance.

Re: Problems after head remake.

the fan is probably a problem with the thermostat - there's a chance someone just forgot to plug something back in.

The idle is probably a loose vacuum connection that was left when they were putting the top end of the engine together, either by not tightening one of the lines up or a cut developing in one of the lines.
