windshield wipers get stuck, help!

so i push the windshield wiper lever and they wipe about half way and get stuck in the middle of the windshield until i push the lever again, and then it will go down and come back up and get stuck again. it never gets stuck in the same exact spot, just where ever it feels like it. and i will continue to push the lever until it goes down and stays down. this could take anywhere from 5 times to 15-20 times to make it stay down.

this morning when it got stuck i got out and smacked the wiper on the window and it made it go down too. when it did it again i just kinda pushed it and it went down as well.

this has been happening for about a year now in all different kinds of weather so its not just a winter thing.

anyone know whats wrong? cuz its really frustrating.

Re: windshield wipers get stuck, help!

I had to replace my wiper motor because it wouldn't park in the right spot. As a matter of fact, I had to replace it 3 times last winter because I got 2 crappy aftermarket ones in a row that didn't work right. I paid a few bucks more, got one from Chevy, and it works good now.

Re: windshield wipers get stuck, help!

Wiper motor def needs replaced. And like was said before in this thread by another poster go for a good brand & not after market.

Also after what my mom's done to my monte carlo I suggest telling people never turn them on if they are frozen to your car window or it's not defrosted enough. You wouldn't believe the times she's done that to my ride and then either they won't come on, go back in their original spot or they fly out and stick out 3 inches or so PAST where the windshield ends.
