fixing up my truck

I just finished putting a tranny in my 94 4x4. I drive it everyday. I'd like to make it a little nicer by fixing a couple of rattles. The front end rattles when I'm stopping. I thought it was the wheel bearings, but I've fixed them and it still rattles the same way. I found a part on a couple different toyota part specialists (marlin and LC) called a front axle brass inner bushing. Does anyone know if that is a possible solution?

The next thing is something I'm sure many of you experience. Noisy lifters. My motor (22RE) is not very old but they have always been kind of noisy. What can be done about that? Why can't anyone make some roller rockers for these things?

Worn brass bushings typically don't cause a noise.
Can you be more specific on the sound and conditions when it happens?

You didn't say what motor you have, but I'm guessing it's a 22RE, and the valves get noisey when their not adjusted correctly. Try adjusting them.

Alright, cool. I gapped the lifters when the engine was cold rather than at normal operating temperature like recommended. I'll fix that soon. It is a 22re by the way.

The noise in the front is hard to describe. It happens when I'm braking but it's not the brakes. It's more like a rattle caused by something a little loose rattling because of vibration caused by the agressive tires.

I just though of something while typing. Maybe I'll lock the hubs and drive and see if it doesn't rattle since that would hold the axles in place.

I did notice some play in the axles in the knuckle when I had it apart, but I didn't notice any brass bushings.
