EGR Flow insufficiant detected
My friend coming by today for me to test his EGR valve.. I just wanted to know if there is a common problem for a P0401. Does the EGR ports on F150 get gunked up like some other Fords I worked on. I have done work on F150 and others. But never ran into this problem on a Triton V8. I must say they seem to do very well. Any thing to look for. Thanks. Gary

Re: EGR Flow insufficiant detected
the dpfe(Differential Pressure Feedback EGR) sensor should be at or around 1 volt. i would look at that first. cleaning the ports would prob. just be a wast of time on that engine

Re: EGR Flow insufficiant detected
I had a 97 f150 with the 4.6 triton and I had the same code and I put a dpfe sensor on mine and it didnt help, I did have to clean my ports, the ports getting dirty is a pretty common problem on those engins

Re: EGR Flow insufficiant detected
I have an 01 f-150 4.6 and I keep getting that same problem. We changed the EGR valve twice aleady, replaced the pressure feedback sensor, and the Mass Air Flow sensor but still the same problem. I'd like to say its a vacuum leak but can not find it! Please help!

Re: EGR Flow insufficiant detected
Got the problem fixed! I finally decided to take it to the mechanic, he figured out the problem within two minutes. He had to replace the tube from the pcv valve to the intake, thats where the leak was. I could hear the leak just couldnt figure out where it was from. With the one hour of work he charged me 110 plus the tube (50) total was 160. Ouch. Hurts right after the holidays.
