Cobalt SS Resonator

I have a cobalt ss with the 2.4 I have a Magnaflow muffler and it sounds great, i reccomend it to all compact racers. My cobalt has a resonator on it though, why? So basically it has two mufflers? If i were to take off the resonator; would it sound bad? Would it mess with the o2 sensors, or the computer? Has anyone did this?

Re: Cobalt SS Resonator

Resonators are usually installed to reduced engine 'droning' noise on hywy runs. They are not restrictive, just more added parts, weight and expense IMO. Try it w/out to see if the drone drives you nutz. It's music to a lot of drivers ears.

Thanks for the reply, but could you describe "drone"?

Like the sound of a tractor-trailer with stacks & no mufflers cruising at highway speeds. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... The old Chevy Cavalier 2.2L (non-OHC) and iron duke 2.5L have a buzzing drone tone to them as well.
