Front drivers window "acts" stuck

My '96 Cherokee has acted up with the colder temperatures as I noticed that the driver's side window "acts" as if it is stuck. I say acts because I can push the button to raise and lower it and you can feel the play...so I'm assuming that the motor is functioning proprely IMO. I was careful not to press thecontrol up and down too much as to not burn the motor out, hwoever, something seems to be binding up down inside my door. I eventually was dirivng and tried again and it went down but started to slow down toward the bottom of the travel. Not wanting to be stuck with the windown stuck down I sent it back up. This morning (after it was 16 degrees last night) I have experienced the same issue with it seeming stuck (but still getting play with the switch toggling)

I have not yet taken the inner door apart to inspect it but was curious to know if anyone else has experienced a similar issue? I'm not totally sure what the issue is but I'm assuming that the cold temperatures are having something act up a bit. Please advise.

Sorry it was so lengthy...

Re: Front drivers window "acts" stuck

  • Wait for it to warm up to use the window
  • the rubber in the track may be sticking, use silicone spray to lubricate
  • the mechanism could be binding, use a light grease to lube
  • take door panel off to see
BTW...my wife's Toyota has a window that needs service but it has been too cold
