Question about no start issue
I got a call from a small used car dealer stating that he's got a 2001 G-Am that won't start. At first I was thinking it was just a PK2 issue since the light is comming on (according to him). But, he went on to say that it won't even crank over. He did check at the switch and the big yellow wire does show 12v. when cranking. Is there some sort of starter relay and if so, where? I'd like to know before going out to see him.

Re: Question about no start issue
If you don't know about Grand Am's. The main reason they stop cranking over/starting is the PASSLOCK/ignition switch. Costs about $500 to $600 to replace. Sometimes you can reset it by turning the ignition to on and wait for ten minutes or more, NO LESS!. Then try to start it. Good Luck!
Not sure what you mean by PK2. I've replace the Pass-lock/ignition switch twice in my 2002 Grand Am SE |

I have an 01 with a 2.4l which every now and then refuses to start, if I wait a day or so it will usually start. The problem now is that when I tried to start it the other day, the ignition (dash and all) went dead, I've got plenty of battery, and the dome light works, any suggestions??
