98 GMC Jimmy Multifunction Switch replacement

My 98 Jimmy makes the sound like the turn signal is on all the time except when the brake pedal is applied. I tried replacing the combination flasher under the glove box on the passenger side, but that made no difference. i think now it is the multifunction switch on the column that needs to be replaced. Questions:

1. Is that most likely my problem?

2. If it is, any suggestions on where to get a cheap switch that I could return if it ends up not fixing the problem? (ebay has some for 70 bucks but i can't return them. the next cheapest ive seen is 120)

3. If I do have to replace it, how do I get the steering wheel off to get to all the screws?

Thanks to all.

Re: 98 GMC Jimmy Multifunction Switch replacement

not sure if the multifunction switch is your problem, but here is a link for how to get to all the screws and stuff on a 1997 Jimmy that may be of some help.
