Question SMS rubber-backed p/e question

I have just been using SMS rubber-backed p/e for the first time.

After removing the parts from the rubber, I noticed that the reverse side has a blue/purple color. For flat pieces the color i snot a problem but for the racing harnesses I was using, the chest buckles are 3D and now a have a two-tone color job

Do you have any way of removing this color? I tried soaking in cellulose thinners but this did not work.

Any experience with this?

Cheers

Re: SMS rubber-backed p/e question

Maybe try sanding them, I've got away with it everytime I've used them.
In one of Alex's tutorials he suggested soaking in something, cant remember what though.

nitro thinner should do the trick, sanding is an option to. I found my wife's nail sander (metal one) very useful, just place the piece on to it push it down with finger and rub, works perfect (until wife finds out ).

laquer thinner, just soak it in that. You can soak the whole thing if you want, laquer will eat the black material as well.

Re: SMS rubber-backed p/e question

Thanks - it's not the rubber, it's the blue color of the metal.

It's really annoying

The MFH p/e is sprue free and backed by a plastic sheet that just peels off and the metal is silver. The SMS solution spoils an otherwise good idea IMHO

Re: SMS rubber-backed p/e question

I have used laquer thinner with good results, other times I have sanded the parts.

Good luck!
