92 prizm problems plus wont stay running!!!

The car has a brand new battery ($84) and a rebuilt alternator it had started fine for two days. It was also having some problems with staying running it would start dieing down then when you tried and give it gas it would just die. It also gets to a point where u cant touch anything the brake, gas, and nothing else will work the radio, heater, and lights all dont work when that happens. As soon as that starts the car will just die. Does anyone have a clue on what the problem could be???? ps there is gas in it i am not that dumb lol

does anyone have a solution or even a guess on what could be wrong would be apreciated the is just sitting in the driveway and we need another vehicle!!!

What is the battery voltage when the car is at rest? Does the starter crank the engine over? measure the voltage accross the battery while it's running-- should be 13.5 volts. If not the altinator, or the replacement altinator is still defective. Was it a new Altinator, or rebuilt? Many rebuilts are no good. Are the terminals tight on the altinator? Have you owned this car long?

Well at this moment the car will not crank it just sounds like the battery is dead. The alternator was rebuilt it could be bad but the one that was in there before was fine and we just swapped them thinking that would solve the problem, and we have not had this car for to long maybe 3 years! We also think that the computer might be shot because the car wont stay running if it does start. It will run for a couple minutes then start dying like its not getting enough gas then it dies. Once that happens u cannot start the car again by the battery have not tried jumping it though.

Ok, make sure the battery has at least 12 volts at rest, make sure terminals are clean, remove them and check, if it starts and dies after a few minutes it could be a few different things. 1- fuel filter is plugged, 2- fuel pump is weak, 3- air leak. staert there

Anyone know how to remove the rear seat for '92 prizm for the fuel pump, and my friend(master mechanic) told me to get a delphi brand, i'm going with that

seems like i get 2 more mpg with this delphi fuel pump(i found out how to do it)

need to check the fuel injection relay to do this turn the key on and see if you can hear the fuel pump run if not check the relay in the engine compartment you might see if the fuse is good.
