Stock 1.8T vs. VR6

Im thinking about buying a GTI from a 2002-2004. Im not planning on modding it but I'm wondering which one would be better, 1.8T or VR6. Would like to know which will be faster, would the VR6 win if I was racing my friends 1.8T. I know the VR6 has more HP but also considering the weight difference. Also which would be faster off the line.

1.8T will be faster. They have more horsepower then marked, VW did this so that the VR6 will sell easier.
For me that doesn't matter, I am one of them hardcore VR6 fans, so for me VR6>1.8T.
Test drive both of them see which one you like more.

VR6 Torque curve is also unbeatable.

VR6 - 0-100kph is 7.08
Golf IV 1.8T is 8.4

We have tested these 2 cars on the dyno and the V-Box. The Golf IV is no match for the VR6.

Also it is heavier therefore power to weight ratio is also less.

Even the Golf II 1.8 16Valve jumbo model can kick the Golf 1.8T Ass!

So guys don't go there! You won't win.

if no mods, vr6. or, put the few grand you save on the 1.8T back into mods and destroy the stock vr6.
