fresh firebird newb

first time posting........anyways i just aquired an 86 firebird cheap with a 2.8L in her. runs beautifully and looking to upgrade. i know there is a 305 and 350 engine that i can get......somewhere.......im sure there are larger engines that i can use but im not sure of the mounting parts that ill need...... any suggestion....... by the way im looking to make it a power house car that will shake apart those imports.

hmmm an LS7 eh? never thought of that..... what kind of power it put out and what kind of upgrades will i need (fuel, mounts, etc)???

One of is those will surely cost you more than two limbs. Go the cheap horsepower route and drop a LS1 or LT1 in it. You can still get plenty of power out of them and they won't cost you , your first born.

Any new engine combo will ofcourse require a ton of work to get it finished. You will need a tranny with a SBC or LS1 bolt pattern (tons out there though), a PCM and a custom harness not to mention a engine craddle from a 305 or 350 if your going the LT1 route or a custom one for a LS1. Those are just a few things, there is alot more.

When seeking a major power boost like this, its always wise to think about trading in your current rather than spending more for the same power but to each there own.

would i be able to rebuild an LS1 Or LT1? or would it be cheaper to just get a new one?........oh and where can i get one?
