Question Changing Oil

I have a 90 Dakota, 4-cyl, 5-spd with 78k miles. I had the oil changed last December. Since that oil change, I have only put about 1000/1500 miles on truck (3rd car, not daily driver). Should I change the oil or just wait until I hit the 3000 mile mark?

Curious because cold weather is coming and want to make sure the oil is OK to keep or get fresh.

Thanks a bunch.

Re: Changing Oil

You should be ok for the colder weather with the standard viscosity oil. Unless you live in areas with extreme cold weather the standard oil in the winter should be fine.

If you intend on going over your 3000 mile mark this winter and it would be easier to do it now, then you can but otherwise you should be fine.
