Transmission noise
This is a '95 Grand Caravan, 3.3 engine, A604 transmission.
The transmission was replaced a year or so ago with a factory rebuilt unit. My wife is now complaining about a noise coming from the transmission. As the car slows to a stop there is a whirring sound, or usually two seperated by a space of time. It's not too loud, but enough to be heard by our old ears. My wife swears that it is a new sound since the transmission was replaced. I think it was pre-existing. I seem to recall being told that the sound is a servo motor downshifting the gears. I think it has been that way since we bought the car new. I need to be re-assured that this noise is normal, or to be told that it represents a problem. Thanks for any input. |

Re: Transmission noise
Only way to know is to let experience ears listen. We can't hear it from here.

Re: Transmission noise
A rapid ticking sound is the normal servo sound. I don't recall being able to hear it inside the vehicle with closed windows, however.
