Spark Plugs Choices

I have a 1998 saturn sl2 DOHC and recentil replaced the plugs with Bosch Platum +4 spark plugs. Is it better to use NGK plugs? I recently had the Engine code PO341 appear and do not know if this may have attributed to this? Anybody have a similar problem? By the way the car has 182,000 miles on it too...

Platinum plugs don't work well with Wasted Spark systems. No need to spend extra money on spark plugs. Standard Autolites, NGK's or AC Delcos work just fine.

Re: Spark Plugs Choices

The only time you should ever consider using plugs that aren't what Saturn recommends or equivalent is when you're using boost.

Good old $2.00 AC Delcos are just fine. I don't think you need that type of plug for your car.

For what it's worth, in my last car, I bought the Bosch platinums. 2 of them dropped their center electrodes into the engine and scored the walls really well. I won't ever buy those again.

Re: Spark Plugs Choices

Huh, I've heard that happening plenty of times in turbo cars, looks like we need to stay away from them in general!
