Are you seeing a Service Engine light? I would have it checked for error codes regardless. Normally if the computer (PCM?) is bad you see an error code. Did the mechanics make sure all the connections were CLEAN and TIGHT. By all connections I mean at the battery, alternator, battery to engine ground, engine to chassy ground. Did they check the fusable links? Will it now start and run?

Re: 97 caravan died

Yes, he checked all the connections. Hooked it up to read any errors, none came up. Says it may be the alternator, if we could get it to do it. Never got that far, battery gave out. Wipers came on, and the parking lights as well, even after it was turned off.

We got it boosted and to the repair shop, lasted about 4 mins between boosting.

No service engine light, which is what the repair guy was wondering as well.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

battery and alternator check out fine
Was the battery load tested? I only ask because a battery can check out at 12.5 volts, but still be bad. Happened to me last year - 12.5 volts and all sorts of weird electrical behavior until I figure out it was the battery.

According to your last post, it appears that the battery did go out on you? Given the symptoms you posted, I too would check the alternator after you get the new battery in there.

Re: 97 caravan died

On my '98 neon (not a Caravan) I had a similar issue, she died, no coders, no CEL, might start with a boost and then die. I finally got it running long enough to code with warm engine and it was the Crankshaft Position Sensor that was defective but only failed when engine was warm.
