Question Re: Lumana won't start!!

Lets back up here and post the year as required, second does the engine turn over and not start, or not even turn over all, third, based on your response to the year question, does the in dash security lite stay on?

Re: Lumana won't start!!

Ok, 1994 Chevy Lumina APV. All dash lights and gauges work fine. Electric windows go up and down. When you turn the key, nothing. Battery cables are good. Battery fully charged. Had no symptoms. Ran fine then dead. No clicking or noises from relays or solenoid.

Ok for starters clean and refit all the battery cables, then check for 12v at the solenoid wire on the starter when cranking, then post back results.

Re: Lumana won't start!!

OK showing 12 v at starter I guess that would mean its time for a new silenoid I have had them go out before but not like that.

Re: Lumana won't start!!

One wire has 12v to the solenoid. the large one, make sure you have 12v on the ign wire at the solenoid only as the key is held in the crank position.

Re: Lumana won't start!!

Yep, no power on this wire until key is turned then power. Guess that means solenoid. Any other possibilities.

Re: Lumana won't start!!

I dont know if it would apply here like it did for me but for me it was my alternator that went out that gave me fits like that - it died at an intersection one day and would not turn engine over, nothing until new alternator was installed and battery recharged - been fine since until I blew the ignition control module
