JASON!!!!or somebody

ok so yea, i went to go down my driveway and it's been snowing. didnt tihnk to check if there was ice under the snow.
so the back end comes out from behind me, and theres no way to stop on ice, the driveway is a hill with the exception of where the cars are parked.

the car hit a tree.

from a simple visual inspection it needs a new front bumper, right light(poop up and corner) and right fender. i looked under the car, there's no liquid coming out of anywhere.. might need a hood too

and i cant move the car, b/c it's kind of in a ditch on the side of the driveway.

question to Jason, can u get stealth parts?

someone else, u have any parts for a 92 tt stealth laying around u wouldnt mind parting with?

Re: JASON!!!!or somebody

idk if insurance will cover it, from what i understand highpoint(my company) wont cover cars on private property unless the car wasnt moving...i took pics just in case anyways

i'm going to shovel and salt right now, then i've got some old train board(right front tires is dug into dirt) and i'll wedge that under it so it has something to grip instead of snow.

my front tires are still bald so i really only have rwd, and the car is in a ditch to the point its only on 3 tires.

i was going about 1250rpm in 1st, i think thats 2mph on conversion...i dont look at the speedometer very often. i shift by engine sound.

the awd didnt help one bit. i'll post pics of the driveway on my myspace, it'll give u a clue as to how difficult the driveway is to get down or up in winter. only 2inches, but ice is under it, that's wat got the car. actually i'll post the pics that i'll use for insurance

It's all wheel drive, it doesn't make a difference in stopping. Didn't help that you front tires are bald either. I know how you feel, I had something similar happen to mine last year about this time. Jason should be able to help you get new parts.

yea went on ebay, only 2 right front lights. no turn signal housing(or watever its called) no front bumpers for a stealth...but there were for 3kgts. so i have a question? wat parts from a 3kgt would work on my tt w/o issues?

i know the bumper had that black thinks going across it on 1g 3k's.

nope awd doesnt do stopping, it does going

if the parts needs to be replaced, it almost makes a 99 front end conversion seem like a good idea...but insurance wouldnt cover that as it's not a stock replacement part going on...sorta. maybe i should try? or i could just get the 99 bumper+lip that 3sx makes for the 1st gen w/o having to change the lights and hood...i'm really gonna find this out. i wanna do the bodywork anyways. parts on and off. i cant do taping and sanding and bondo-ing(that a word?). hmmmmm.....

Re: JASON!!!!or somebody

check out your home owners insurance if your parents have it.

if you screwed up your fender in a bash, you may need a new rocker panel too.

Jason
thanks.

i got it out just now. i needed a guide truck to hook the back just to keep it from sliding further into the ditch. got it out w/o really needing the truck.

i dont think it helps that my dad decided to use a crowbar to try and fix the bumper and light housing. i'm hoping he didnt put a hole thru the intercooler...

o i'm gonna check out the 99 bumper and lip. but def need bumper, light housing, and light motor, also need the quater panel support or watever behind the light

Re: JASON!!!!or somebody

that and you would have to change out the whole headlight buckets and radiator support and have someone weld it in place..

Re: JASON!!!!or somebody

i dont hate 2nd gen lights....that's joe. i like the pop up only b/c it seems that some of the greatest sports cars has pop ups...i like the projector mainly because they keep the front end smoother.

notables with pop ups
miata
porsche 924/914/944
chevy camaro/pontiac firebird
chevy corvette
supra
nissan fairlady z31
and others

i'd prefer to keep the pop ups only b/c that would b the cheaper way of doing things. but i love the 99 bumper, it's agressive

Re: JASON!!!!or somebody

if i was in your shoes, i would just try and get it driveable (unless you have another car, then start tearing into it) and wait until you get your taxes back so you can do the '99 conversion.

Re: JASON!!!!or somebody

actually the car is drivable. drove it today. it's just cosmetic damage, nothing mechanical other than the pop up not poping or the hood opening(pop up is keeping it from doing so)

the cheapest i found for repair with replacement stock parts 2818 bucks!!!! thats if they do all the work

haha, taxes, getting money back. well i did get a bit back last yr, but nething i get this yr will go right to my parents. i'm not doing a full 99 front end, just the bumper.

and i do have a 2nd car...944, just not good in snow. granted the stealth didnt prove itself either but bad tires didnt help. and the 944 just got done 2day...finally, to bad it needs gas, to the point that it ran out coming out of the shop...
