heater problems - need help figuring out what to replace

My HVAC control panel diagonostic codes indicate that I have:

1) Mode actuator did not reach defrost position
4)blead pass. Actuator did not reach heat stop
8) zone/driver actuator did nit reach heat stop

So, what do I have to replace or check to fix these problems and where are they located.

Basically I get no defrost and no heat for both driver and passenger. Help please. Thank you.

Re: heater problems - need help figuring out what to replace

I've had zero experience with tests failures on this system. Apparently, few have. I'm just going by what I've read. Seems odd you would have that much going wrong all at once. The only common thread I see is the control panel. I'm sure several attempts at the calibration gives the same results. I would check the contacts on the panel connector for anything amiss. Have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset the HVAC module in the panel? If all looks good then I would suspect the module (computer). See if you can find a replacement panel in a junkyard. They are probably pricey elsewhere.

Re: heater problems - need help figuring out what to replace

thanks for the suggestion. The problems where actually gradual. First the defrost would work off and on, then about a week ago it was gone, then I was only getting panel w/hot on the drivers side. Cold on the passenger side. I didn't learn about the code system untill I had taken it all apart. It is wierd that the control panel diagnostic codes would tell me exactly what the problem with the vents are, if the control panel were not working properly. Anyway. I couldn't let my wife drive around in freezing weather with three little kids this winter. I tore into the dash and overrode the the mode actuator and pushed it to defrost and then unconnected the driver and passenger heat actuators and placed them in the on heat position. With a pile of dash plastic in my basement I am inclined to wait till spring to figure it all out. For now we open the windows or turn down the blower fan if we get too hot. This is the first problem I have had with this van. I hope it is not fortelling of times to come. Anyone else with suggestions please let me know.

Hey, the important thing is you have heat. Let us know what fixes it eventually. There isn't much about HVAC code failures on any forum I've seen. Your fix could help many.

Have you tried resetting the BCM?
You can do this by disconnecting the Batt. neg. cable for a few minutes, or pulling the IOD fuse for a few minutes.
Can't say that will solve your problem, but I feel it is worth a try at this point.

If you decide to R&R the ctl module, here is a link to R&R guide .....
