Is the lites on, your daytime running lights? Or are all the lites on, including the tailites?

Yes, all lites, dash/tail/everything. Just as tho it was dark or had the switch on. The only time you can have them go off is if ya have it in park running and on the slider on left side of switch you hold down, then they go off and dash lites get brighter. Then when ya put back in drive again all lites come back on again..Lites all work fine , but like never go just to the daytime running lites only..

Re: 2000 Buick La Sabre Lights all the time

I'd check to see if the dashtop sensor is disconnected, keep in mind my Le Sabre lites will do the same thing on cloudy days or tree lined streets under lo lite conditions.

Re: 2000 Buick La Sabre Lights all the time

I just bought a 98 Limited almost 3wks ago and the lights were switching between drl and night lights like they were suppose to, then 3 days ago I can't get the night lights to turn off during the day just like the op. I did check and make sure the sensor wasn't blocked in any way. Any clue as to how to check if that sensor is disconnected without breaking anything? Thanks

Re: 2000 Buick La Sabre Lights all the time

Mine did this too. When I had my piece of junk break down with a cracked intake manifold the guy at the shop was like, "Just pull the twilight switch fuse" Well needless to say when I got the car back the lights turn off during the day and on at night. Checked the fuse but its still there so I wonder if they just unplugged the twilight switch itself. Which is what the problem was to begin with. I dont feel like paying 80 bucks for it around here but whatever they did it worked.

Turn off the windshield wipers. If you have the automatic wipers and they are on rain detect mode, they have the lights on.

Otherwise make sure you have turned the switch on the dash off for the headlights.

Re: 2000 Buick La Sabre Lights all the time

Sorry, no wipers on at all or no lights when wipers ar on. Yes I hve the switch OFF. Better yet I even took the switch out and had it unplugged and all the lights still on only when its in Drive..Now I did this,,when I put only the parking lights on ,,Now the headlights go out!!!! shut the parking lights off and the headlights come back on/all lights to include parking..Could it be the swicht itself?? or is this car a demon?? Like I said before after you start the car day or nite all lights come on...

The headlights are supposed to go off if you turn on the parking light switch when they are on. The parking lights should all be on but the headlights off. This enables you to drive with only parking lights on.

Make sure your clock is set to the correct am/pm setting, its also tied into the twilight sentinal system. when you set your clock, the Pm times have no indicator, but when you get to am it will say AM while in the set mode, once you set it, the AM goes away.

Is the twilight fuse located in the fuse panel? Where is the sensor located at on the car?

Do you know how to change it so the light don't stay on all the time?and you can have them off if desired?

The fuse is under the back seat next to the battery. The sensor is that bulb thing on the dash board that if you cover the lights turn on. The switch is where you would normally turn on your headlights. Ill find out today what they did.

I am not sure what kind of car you have but my battery is located under the hood. My fusebox in the car is on the right side /end of the dash. You have to open passanger door to get to it. There is also one under the hood. I have not looked under the seat for a fuse. I did look in my fusebox but did not see any fuses related to this aoto light thing. If you find something out it would be nice to know.

Thanks
Dave
