Transmission Problem
Ok here is the deal. I just bought this 1995 grand prix gtp. It doesnt shift into any gears. The motor starts and runs fine. The tranny however doesnt. I pull the selector to any gear and it doesnt respond. I does make like a rattle/slight grind noise. The previous owner said he took it in to the tranny shop and they told him it was a transmission sensor or solenoid. Does this sound like it may very well be it? They claimed it just stop working one day. any suggestions. I plan to change the filter and fluid but need alittle advice as far a what might fix it.

Re: Transmission Problem
you have the 4t60e, I dont think its a sensor or a soloniod problem. You could unplug the main electrical harness on the tranny, and providing the transmission internals are ok, you will always have one forward gear and reverse. sorry to say this, It almost sounds like a line pressure problem or possible loss of a one way clutch in the transmission and its probably time for a rebuild.
