Clutch won't engage, funny smell, stick won't move

So I was pulling out of my pretty long driveway to go over to a freind house, in my 2000 A4 Quattro. When he called me and told me something had come up and I couldn't go over at the moment. So, I pulled into a little allyway type thing on the side of the road, reversed out of it, got my self turned around back into my drive way, stopped, shifted into first, raised my RPM's to about 1,700 or 2,000, and slowly realesed the clutch, keeping on the gas. It stalled. Now, I have been driving stick for about half a year, and I don't really stall. I just said ok, started the engine again, do the same thing, and stall again. I did this about 6 times, when I thought that there must have been something wrong. I started to smell gas, and then an oil smell. I tried one more time, but this time I reved it up higher, to around 3,000, then kept going, up to 4,000, and the car slowly started moving foward. I then kind of had to half coast, half keep on the gas (don't know if that was actually helping the car move). I depressed the clutch, and tried to shift into second gear. Stick wouldn't move! So by the time I coasted to a safe place in my driveway where I could park it. It smells like crap now, and I'm pretty worried. What do you think this is?
