Just a couple questions any help/insight wanted (Stereo+Body Kit)

Alright my first question is a question about the quality of a car stereo/dvd player. Is Dual at least a decent company? I've read both great and horrible things about their products. I was looking at purchasing a Dual car DVD player with a 7" touch screen. I was searching around for reviews and found people who love it, and a few who hate it. And, because of my employment, I can get 20% off for the holidays which is a great deal. So I was just wondering if this Dual DVD player would be worth it?

Secondly, I plan on getting a Type-W Kit from Wings West. (I wanted more aggressive but not over the top) Which I thought was a simple front and rear lip and side skirts. So we called the body shop and they gave an average estimate of $1500. I thought this was a little high? I may be wrong. I'm just unsure of what I should do. Talk to them in person with pictures of the kit so they have a better idea of what it is, or go somewhere else? Any info you guys can provide on this or the DVD player would be greatly apperciated, thanks for your time.

dont get dual! i had a dual for about 2 weeks and it sounded worse than stock by far. and when i played cd's and hit the smallest bump it would skip for like 20 seconds. i took it back to best buy and bitched them out till they gave me a pioneer. the pioneer sounds beautiful, 100 times better than dual.

Yeah I figured for the price for a DVD player and screen it wouldn't be great. So I guess Ill just hold out for a while until I can get a quality DVD player. I don't have a problem with my stock unit for now... Now what do I do about my kit?

To get a body kit painted - $1000 is fair.

I don't know what the wings west kit runs, but my body kit alone shipped was $949.89. Polyurethane of course.

if thats for them to buy the kit and install it, then yes its a good deal. Wings west kits are urethane as well. Good stuff.

That wasn't with them buying the kit too. That was just paint and installation with me providing the kit myself. The lip kit is about $550. I'm going down to talk with them in person tomorrow. If that seems like its going to be too expensive, I'm sure for them (being a GM dealer and bodyshop) to put on the 2002 LS Sport Lip for the Cavalier won't be as expensive.

you'd be surprised really.... Go to a shop thats not apart of a chain of repair shops where they try to get work in and out as fast as they can. Its the family owned body shops which i've seen the best work come out of. I had a few touch up's at the body shop where i bought my cav, and it went back to them 3 times afterwards because it wasn't up to my standards. (e.g primer overspray, never even clear coated it when done) I tore their manager a new asshole...

I'm not one to short change when it comes to car stuff ... i know too much.

Re: Just a couple questions any help/insight wanted (Stereo+Body Kit)

Well, Good news today. I went to the GM body shop and talked to the guy there. I showed him pictures of the kit, and directions provided by Wings West. He went through the prices and came up with $600-800 for paint and installation, depending on the quality of the kit (I've heard nothing but good things about Wings West kits so I'm hoping for some quality parts). So I'm very happy with this price and will be getting the Type-W kit very soon
