I recently purchased a 2007 Taurus SE and I'm confused as to which engine I have under the hood. How do I tell if I have the Vulcan or the Duratec? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The fastest way is to look at the side front fender just behind the front wheel and see if it has a little squar emblem. If it does, its a duratec, if not its a Vulcan. Rob |

Re: Vulcan or Duratec?
You have a Vulcan.
They stopped putting the Duratec in the Taurus in 2005 Mike

by 2005 ford was selling about 60 percent of the taurus production to rental car companies and corporate fleets. They decontented the car like crazy. Things like glove box lights, rear plumbing for the heat and air all kinds of stuff. They even deleted the passenger door key lock in 06 or 07. 07 the last year for the GenIV Taurus it was actually a Rental/fleet purchase car only. There were a few examples of them winding up on the dealers lot but not many. Mike

Re: Vulcan or Duratec?
Case anyone cares, they discontinued adjustable pedals and the sway bars as well.
