I have been thinking about getting a liberty and i was wondering which engine to get, i am a diesel fan so that will factor in, but i want to know what everyone else thinks about the 3.7L versus the 2.8L crd.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: 2005 Liberty CRD
we have had very few problems with the diesel, replaced a water pump for engine vibration and there is a tsb for the torque converter shudder. 3.7 have more than there share of vaulve problems mostly pitting or vaulve seats breaking off end up replacing the piston and head but most of are customers get fuel induction cleanings regularly and that knocks down the carbon build up and helps to prevent major pitting so you dont get the misfire codes and have leak down problems from the pitted vaulves helps to prevent that stuff but there is stuff out on the market to put in your gas tank that will do the same thing if used regularly hope this helps out

Re: 2005 Liberty CRD
the diesel rocks.I have seen some egr problems, and i replaced 1 injector but thats about it.Oh, and by the way the injectors are about $800.00 each.I dont know about any torque converter shudder, but there is a recall for the torque converter. The torque converter needs to be replaced and the pcm and tcm get reflashed to actually reduce the power of the engine because the converter cant handle it.
