Good setup?
What do you guys think of this setup?
I drive a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST... Turbocharged for those of you who dont know. Current setup... -Shitty battery -old but good Alpine head unit -6.5" Pioneer 4-ways in the front -6x9" Pioneer 3-ways in the back hooked up to a 200watt kenwood 2channel amp. Which doesnt sound half bad. -I had my box from my old car in it and it weighed so much that my car ended up being on the sluggish side so i took it out but i had a 920watt POS Kenwood amp and 2 10" Kicker L7s in a !BIG! MDF box. (all wired in series, amp cant handle 2ohms) -Ran 4g wire from the battery all the way back. -LCD molded into dash with FiberGlass then wrapped in grey leather like the rest of the car. And a shitty Diesel DVD player molded into the glove box. Plan on upgrading to a better one. Future setup -First and foremost i will be running off of a Optima Yellow-top rather than a cap...i don't really like caps. -I would like to run either 4g or 2g power and ground wire. -going with 14 or 12g speaker wire for everything. -I don't know what the serial number is but i definitely want to use either a pioneer premiere head unit or a high end alpine -moving towards the back, i want to run either 6.5" CDTs or 6.5" MB Quarts... whichever i get a better deal on... definitely going with components tho. - In the back i want to run 6x9" CDTs or MB Quarts also. There is already a small 2channel amp hooked up to the back speakers...Which i plan on upgrading to a small 4channel kicker zx amp..most likely about a 500watt so that i can run some midbass drivers in the back off of the same amp. -OK now the fun stuff. -I have a painted fiberglass box on the way right now thats going to fit 2 10" Kicker L7's, two CDT Audio M6i 6.5" 300 Watt Mid-Bass/sub-bass drivers. But it will be a very small box because i do like to race my car and a big box makes the back end a lil sluggish. The box will most likely take up the entire trunk area but wont be very tall. -I would love to go with about a 4500watt amp or so...but it looks like im going to get a 4000watt Lanzar Maxpro amp...im not a fan of lanzar but my friend hooked up a 2400watt of that version and i really liked the sound...If i had more money i would go for either a Hifonics or kicker amp...maybe later when i can afford it i will. -I already have most of this stuff im just waiting till i have time to install it all at one time. If you got any good suggestions or cool ideas they would be much appreciated. |

Re: Good setup?
for the new system ......
you're right, caps are pretty much useless. Optimas are good if you like playing with the car off a lot. 12-14 ga is fine for mids/tweets 2 Ga may be a little small for the power you are wanting to run top of the line MB Quart is WAY better than top of the line CDT Skip the speakers in the back, they are not needed. You may be able to put some midbass drivers back there if you know what you are doing with them. I am guessing Lanzar is overrating their amps quite a bit, one the bass guys in here will have to fill us in on that one. |

Re: Good setup?
u dont need a powerfull amp in that car. and that thing probelly only puts out 500 watts if that. and by sound quality it probelly was not from the amp but from the ensclure. and what is your budget on the amp.
